Potty Training

If there is one thing I know, it's that I love my Eme girl. We have a great time together, but we are both stubborn and not willing to back down if we aren't getting our way. Take the title of this post - potty training. We were doing well the first 45 minutes and after that she decided to wet her first pair of big girl underpants. The next pair was wet soon after in our bathroom, about 12 inches from the toilet. The story goes we went through 5 pairs of underwear and on the 5th pair of underwear, I went outside to get the mail (sidenote: I was in my pajamas, no make-up/no shower, teeth not brushed, etc - I was quite the sight) and I come back to go inside and Eme has locked me out! I don't think she knew what she was doing, but has seen us lock the doors so she gave it a try and it worked! After pounding on all doors possible (I didn't bother to open the shutters today - big mistake) I go on over to my neighbors to borrow their phone to call Dane and there is no answer at his work number. I then call my mom - who is an hour away helping my sister-in-law. She frantically says she is on her way because of the hysteria and situation I am in. Then my neighbor calls the fire station in the mean time to see if they can help and they state the only help they can offer is to break down the front door. I say no thanks and finally reach Dane who bless his heart said he was on his way. Dane finally arrives home (mind you I can hear the children by the front door in hysterics) and as Eme gets up to come to us she slips in her pee by the front door. We get that and her cleaned up - let's just say we called it a day with the potty training. I am sure I will look back on this day and laugh - just not today!

Springtime and the Arboretum

After taking a trip to the Arboretum with the women from our stake last Saturday, I knew that I couldn't pass up an opportunity to get back to take the kiddos and get some spring pictures. The tulips and daffodils are absolutely breathtaking. I also recruited my mom to come with us and help out with the kiddos as my mom and I took on the task of on-site photographers. We had a great time walking on the soft grass (mostly non-existent in Texas), looking at the pretty flowers, walking along the well manicured paths, and loving the 70+ temp outside. The sun was shining and all the world was great. I love the springtime in Texas.

Easter Eggs

While I was gone with the Stake Relief Society to the Arboretum, Dane and Em had a little daddy-daughter time at home. While E took his nap, Em and Dane created egg masterpieces. The kit we got had some stickers, a special crayon that would make white on the color, and some borders to go around the eggs. Em had a blast and Dane was just the person to do them with her. Dane wanted to start the tradition of coloring eggs annually because he has such fond memories of coloring Easter eggs with his sisters around Easter time. Em was so proud of the eggs and couldn't wait to show me them when I arrived home. I am so glad Dane loves to have one-on-one time with his kiddos. It is so fun to encourage our kiddos to be creative and try new things.

Utah - Part 1 - March 2010

The Wedding - Dylan and Julie Cannon - Oquirrah Mountain Temple

It was so fun to visit Utah for my cousin Dylan's wedding. We were there from March 18-22. We arrived on Thursday and played in Salt Lake and then headed down to Provo to see Granny. We had a nice evening together and it was fun for Granny to become acquainted with Em and E. We got up Friday and I was able to get my hair cut in Provo (have to do it everytime I visit Provo) and then headed up to Salt Lake again for a dinner at the Alta Club. Quinn was nice enough to babysit our little ones and it was fun for Em and E to get to know their 1st cousins once removed. We got up Saturday and went to the Oquirrah Mountain temple and wow what a beautiful temple and setting. The Salt Lake Mountains and Mount Timp are visable from the temple location and are breathtaking. The neighborhoods around the temple are cute and reminded us of a Park City feel. We also had the opportunity to see Erin's home. What a cute home! It was so fun to catch up with family with whom we don't get to see often. We then went back to Provo for the reception at the Sky Room @ BYU. We spent Sunday with Granny visiting, swinging on the swings, eating a yummy dinner, and visiting Papa's grave. Thanks for the fun and memories. Thanks mom and dad for being troopers and helping out with the kiddos.
