BYU vs TCU - Basketball

We went to the BYU vs TCU game in Ft Worth over the weekend.  It is always fun to be surrounded by other Mormons and this game was filled with a sea of blue.  We had a fun time (even Easton and Collins sat still for most of the game and watched it).  It was fun to be with family since we are nearing the time my mom and dad will leave for their mission for 18 months.  Eme couldn't wait to wear her BYU cheerleading outfit.  She loved the cheerleaders and dancers from TCU and wants to still be a cheerleader when she grows up.  She asked when we can go to another name.  She was sad Cosmo the Cougar wasn't at the game!  Thanks mom and dad for a night of fun!

Pre-Valentine's Celebration with Grammy and Poppy

Dane and I were spoiled over Valentine's Day weekend by my parents.  The kiddos and I went over earlier on the Friday before Valentine's for a cookie decorating party for the grandkids at my mom's house.  Eme had fun decorating and Easton had fun eating the cookies (he especially liked licking the frosting off).  The Friday before Dane and I went to the temple.  It was nice to have a good pre-Valentine's date at Pappasito's and then off to a session at the temple.  The next night my parents watched the kiddos (and brought them some fun Valentine's Day surprises) again while we went to an Adult Valentine Day Dance at the church.  It was fun to be with Dane and spend some good quality time together.  It brought us back to our dating days.  Thanks mom and dad for always being helpful to give us some time to reconnect as a couple!  We love you both and will miss our awesome babysitters!!!

Sunday dinner with Grammy and Poppy

The first Sunday in February, we had Stake Conference on a regional level.  We were finished with church by noon and so my parents came over for a little roast, potatoes, and rolls.  We finished off with some of my moms yummy apple crisp.  It has been forever since we got together on a Sunday for dinner because of crazy church schedules, so it was nice to spend a Sunday afternoon with them.  Plus, the kiddos never complain when Grammy and Poppy come over.

February Freeze and Snow

During the first week in February, Texas was slammed with a winter storm.  We got record breaking temperatures, icy roads (we can't drive on due to lack of trucks to remove ice and limited trucks to distribute salt to melt the ice), crazy drivers on the roads without 4-wheel drive (high number of trucks and SUV's in Texas, but limited number with 4-wheel drive), and snow.  Dane was off work for 4 days in early February and the schools in the area missed 5 days due to weather issues.  Eme missed 4 days of preschool and we were getting a little stir crazy in our house.  One of the days off for Dane was a snow day.  We received 8-9 inches of snow and the kiddos went out with Dane to make a snow man, throw snowballs, and ride our sled (aka a garbage can lid with rope tied to it).  I was a little better with snow equipment for the kiddos this time, but they didn't care and just got in the snow and had fun.  Towards the end of their time outside in the snow, they started to slide down the hill on their tummies.  They had a great time and look forward to our next snow!

New York City Girl's Trip - January 2011

What a fun surprise to have my mom and dad surprise the Jones girls with a trip to New York City for Christmas for an all Girls Weekend!  I thought the day would never come, but it came quickly.  Poor Karim got was stuck for 24 hours in Virginia have flight after flight get cancelled, so Chris and Karim hopped in the car and drove to New Jersey.  We stayed with Karim's family in their beautiful home.  What awesome hosts!   Thanks Andrew and Gina for making us feel so welcome and comfortable.  We went shopping, ate lots of yummy food (best bagels and pizza), explored New York City, saw the Lion King on Broadway, ate yummy cupcakes at the famous Magnolia Bakery, talked until late, slept in comfy beds, took our time getting places, and all around just had a great time relaxing.  Thanks mom and dad, Karim, Gina and Andrew for making the trip to New York City/Summit a restful and relaxing one.  It was just what I needed to be a better wife and mother!
