Utah Trip - Day 2

Day 2 in Utah was spent going to Park City. We went and walked around Main Street in Park City, ate at a yummy pizza place per Chris and Karim's recommendation, and went to check out the Alpine Slide (a Jones family favorite). Dane and I stayed with the kiddos in the Little Miners area and they rode the merry-go-round (4 times) and Em rode the little airplanes once. We had yummy ice cream while we waited for my dad, Josh, Kallie, Karim, and Chris to ride the Alpine Coaster. They all said it was worth the wait and totally fun! We missed Collins, Ashley, Syd, and Little Col Col. Thanks mom for helping make Granny's open house a success! We all got ready and headed down to Provo for an open house for Granny's 90th Birthday Celebration! Many friends from church, the neighborhood, and just friends in general came through the line to show love an appreciation for Granny. The kiddos had fun with their cousins and loved the swings, hill on the lawn, and just running and playing together. It was a fun day and great to be with the whole Jones Family again!!!!

Utah Trip - Day 1

We arrived in Utah on July 1st for Granny's 90th birthday celebration. Em and East were awesome on the plane!! We drove from Salt Lake to Midway where my mom and dad had rented a home for us to stay in. It was awesome and had more than enough space for us all to spread out in. We went to dinner at the local grocery store called "The Store" and ate in their deli section. The girls (Ashley, her mom Sherilyn, Karim, Kallie, my mom Jerri, and myself) went to see the new Twilight movie "Eclipse" that night and left the men home to watch the kiddos. It was fun to be with just the girls and I am still amazed I enjoyed books about werewolves and vampires. The company was great!

Free Things for the Summer

I have been trying to think of things to keep us occupied this summer without being in the heat too much. I found that the outlet mall nearby offers free movies at 10 am Tues-Thur and that our local library offers a free story time on Wednesday mornings. Swimming in our pool or the splash park right across the highway from our home. It has been fun to beat the heat and not have to shell out a lot of money to have fun. We need to continue to do more fun things, because I am sure there are more opportunities for big discounts or free ideas - I just need to research to find them. I love the ages of the kiddos right now because they can both walk and participate in whatever we are doing. Here's to having fun in the TEXAS HEAT this summer!

The College World Series

For Father's Day this year Dane decided it would be fun to meet his dad in Omaha, Nebraska for the College World Series. Dane and his dad have always wanted to attend the College World Series (plus it was the last year they are playing at Rosenblatt for the World Series that Gary played in during 1971 for BYU). They had three days of fun, baseball, relaxation, hotdogs, and seeds. They were both in seventh heaven! It was fun for just the boys to spend some time together. Gary saw 8-10 of his players (from when he was the coach for the USA Youth National Team) playing on the various teams and talked to a couple. Overall, it was fun (except that Dane got fried because he didn't put on any sunscreen during the whole day Monday - sometimes you have to learn lessons the hard way). Happy Father's Day to you both - we hope the trip was well worth it!!!!
