Time Out for Women

This year Time Out for Women was held in Plano, Texas (October 8-9) so my sister-in-laws and I decided to go. It was so fun to be there in the midst of 1700+ other LDS women and to have a good time with my sister-in-laws and women from my ward. It is awesome that Deseret Book sponsors this for just women to have a little time away to refresh and relax. The musical guests were Michael McClean and Hilary Weeks. The women and men who spoke were awesome. I felt like I had been spiritually fed and their messages were just what I needed to hear. I was already on a spiritual high with Conference the week before, but it was nice have another chance where I could really feel the Spirit without any distractions and to really relax and enjoy. Thanks Dane for making it possible for me to have this much needed break. We missed you mom and Karim.

New Hair - Linds Style

I am sure many are wondering why I would want to cut my hair shorter? Why, not?!?!? It fits my personality to a t and I love how easy short hair is to fix. I have all the body I need when it's shorter and I love to have a haircut that takes minutes to fix. I know most men out there would die if their wives cut their hair as short as I did, but luckily I married a man who loves short hair (probably because he hasn't ever known me any different). I have wanted to do a pixie haircut for a while, but haven't had the nerve because of a bad pixie haircut years ago. I went with the bangs a little longer than a normal pixie because even I have limitations. I like the final product and look forward to being able to do fun styles with the new do. If there is one thing I have learned about hair over the years - it is that it grows back and why not have fun and try new styles!!!

Fall Weather in Texas, Nothing Quite Like It!!!!

What gorgeous weather we have had the last two weeks here in Texas! It hasn't been above 86 degrees and there is a nice wind that blows. After a brutal Texas summer, we were all ready for the fall time. It has been heavenly! The kiddos and I have wanted to be outside more and today Dane came home early after a dental appt. Of course the kiddos wanted to help Daddy and be wherever he was so we got out their little camping chairs so they could watch Daddy. Then Em got restless and started riding her bike, while Easton went back and forth happy as a clam with his rake. We went on a walk and played on the smaller playground in our neighborhood. Every move Em made on the playground she would say "now take a picture of me doing this, Mommy". She is quite the poser these days and doesn't hesitate to pose on cue! I love fall time and look forward to enjoying the outdoors more now that the heat isn't so intense! Welcome fall!!!

Ashley's Birthday

What an awesome weekend! We had the chance to participate in General Conference via satelite and also celebrate Ashley's birthday. We love Ashley and are so glad that she is part of the family. We went over to my mom and dad's for a yummy dinner of enchiladas, salad, corn, and to top it all off yummy cupcakes baked by my sis-in-law, Kallie. She made a huge cupcake for Ashley and then made another 25 smaller cupcakes for us all to enjoy (because Ashley turned 26). It was awesome to be together. The girls and Easton loved the cupcakes (especially the girls, Em and Syd had at least 4 cupcakes a piece and the thing they enjoyed the most was the frosting - most of the cupcakes only had the frosting gone and no cupcake eaten!). I love conference weekend and I was so glad that we got together to celebrate Ashley. Even though at this stage it is hard for me to get much out of General Conference with little ones, I am glad that I still feel recharged and ready to refresh those areas of improvement. Happy birthday, Ashley!

These Boots are Made for Walking (I mean Eme)

I feel that since we live in Texas that it is okay to embrace the tradition of wearing cowboy boots. Since Eme was just tiny she has always had a pair of cowboy boots. She loves to wear them and I have to admit I am not into a lot of southern things, but wearing the boots are one of them I am on board with. My mom got Eme some jeggings and she chose to wear her cowboy boots with them. Here's to my little Texan girl! Yee-ha!
