Last year we started a tradition in December with Em and East that included a wise man figurine that we would hide each night. The kids would go around the house looking for the wise man and when they found him, would discover that he had in his hands a piece of paper that had written on it a clue that would lead them to a fun little game, toy, or treat (and on Christmas eve, he would leave a clue to read Luke 2 about the birth of the Savior, which we would then read together as a family). This year Britt made and sent us a box that had in it fun things for the 12 Days of Christmas (thanks Britt, the kids have loved it). So we have been using the items Britt sent as part of our wise man activity each night. One of the things Britt included in the box for one of the days was some bubble gum and a couple of finger poppers (little rubber cylinders that you turn inside out, place on the tip of your finger and shoots across the room). Well, after playing with his popper for a little while, Eastie found a very practical use for it - a hat for the wise man. You will notice that the wise man is also missing his hands - he is still functional though and now has a nice little yellow hat to wear.
