Christmas - Part 1

We had a quiet, yet fun Christmas '09 with Grammy and Poppy. We were supposed to go to Grammy and Poppy's home Christmas Eve, but due to slick roads, cold temps, and threats of snow we stayed at home and had a very quiet, relaxing evening with our little family. We read the Christmas story from the Bible and had the kiddos open new pajamas. We got the chocolate milk all ready for Santa and put the kiddos to bed relatively early. Dane and I enjoyed the evening together opening gifts to and from one another. We awoke to a little bit of snow the next morning and while Em was disappointed Santa was already gone, she couldn't wait to get outside to see the snow. Although a little apprehensive, she soon was down scooping up the bits of snow on the grass and loving it. She didn't want to go inside, but she did want her brother to see the snow. We went in and got E up and he continued to stay unsure of the cold, wet stuff on the grass. We came in and had a little Christmas with our little family and then shortly thereafter, Grammy and Poppy arrived with many a gifts. It was fun to have a small get-to-gether and fun was had by us all. We left the kiddos with Grammy and Poppy and Dane and I went to see Sherlock Holmes. It was fun to get out and have a little couples time. We look forward to having everyone together next Christmas!

Christmas - Part 2

Christmas PJ's

Grandma and Grandpa Hatch sent money for us to buy pajamas for the kiddos this year. It was fun to pick the pajamas and then have the kiddos wear them Christmas Eve. Em was so excited about Santa Clause coming to town and left a bottle of chocolate milk (with a coaster underneath no less) in hopes of his arrival that night. Em was sorely disappointed when she awoke Christmas morning to find Santa was already gone (along with most of her favorite chocolate milk). E wasn't sure what to think about his first Christmas!

Christmas Outfits

This was the best picture I could capture of the two little munchkins in their Christmas outfits. Neither one will sit still for long periods of time these days and thus I end up with pictures of the two of them where they aren't into the picture idea. Emerson wore this cute plaid dress and Easton wore his suit (that we got him for Josh and Kallie's wedding). Easton looked so grown up with a shirt, tie, and suit combo. We can't believe Christmas is almost here!!!

Christmas Party

We had a wonderful Christmas party last Saturday at our ward building. There were many families who signed-up to provide the center piece and place settings for their table of 8 settings. It was fun to see what families came up with for dinnerware and center pieces. Each family who participated was also responsible for the dessert at the table. I made yummy cherry cheesecake and then we had a program that consisted of women who played a role in the life of the Savior. It was hard for me to hear everything because it was WAY past Easton's bedtime and he was very antsy, but Dane thought it was excellent and very well presented. Emerson quickly found her buddy Maggie and very willingly posed with a grin for the camera with Mag by her side.

Linds's Birthday

I had a wonderful birthday this year and was able to spend it with my family, my parents, brothers, sister-in-law, niece and nephew. We were able to go out to yummy Mexican food at Chuy's and then back to my parents house for ice cream cake and presents. I scored a cute watch, sweater, creche' animals, wallet, cute flower pins to pin onto sweaters and shirts or necklaces, a yummy pumpkin air freshner for the car, bracelets, fun money, scrapbooking supplies, and a giftcard to Hobby Lobby. It was a fun birthday and great to spend with those I love. Thanks for the many phone calls and cards - they meant alot!

Emmy and the Christmas Tree 2009

A couple of days ago we decided to get out the Christmas tree and decorate. Emmy and I went up to the attic and got out all the boxes of ornaments and decorations. We brought the first box of ornaments downstairs and I told her that she could open it. She pulled the lid off and her eyes lit up as she looked down at all the shiny glass bulbs, snow globes, and other ornaments. I proceeded to show her how to hang an ornament on the tree and after the first one, she immediately went back to the box, pulled out another one and exclaimed "Daddy, I do it mysels." So I sat back and just enjoyed the moment as I watched Em take each ornament out of the box and hang it on the tree. She had one branch in particular that was her favorite - which is where the first 15 ornaments went (as you can see below - the tree branch at the front is very heavey laden). But it was so fun to watch her - and after she was through, ran to get Linds so she could show her the masterpiece she created, it was classic. As you can tell below, she was very proud of herself for the job she did - way to go Emmy!

Thanksgiving 2009 Part 1

Turkey Day was a blast this year! Chris and Karim (aka Tia) were in town visiting from Virginia and so we spent the end of Thanksgiving week and weekend together. Emmy was in seventh heaven because she got to go to Grammy and Poppy's house 3 days in a row. On Thanksgiving, we had a yummy turkey dinner with all the fixings (stuffing, green beans, potatoes, yams and apples, and delicious jello salad w/apple and pumpkin pie for desert). The only thing missing....Kallie. We all missed you Kallie, and look forward to many fun holidays ahead with you and Josh. The Jones kids and spouses(thanks Grammy and Poppy for staying behind to watch the grandkids) went to see Blindside and the girls went to see New Moon. We ate BBQ, had homemade enchiladas and guacamole, spent some time at the park so the girls could run and play, watched BYU beat Utah, and just enjoyed being together. Thanks mom and dad for hosting us all and helping us create fun memories together. We look forward to being together again soon to celebrate Josh and Kallie's wedding.
